Murray Hill Institute is proud to support Rosedale Achievement Center, located in the Bronx, New York. Rosedale offers academic tutoring and leadership programs to girls ages 9-18. All of Rosedale's programs instill a sense of personal worth by developing students’ talents, character, and spirit of service, and by strengthening academic skills through individualized attention and mentoring. The staff and volunteers collaborate with parents and families to prepare students so they can complete their education and make a positive contribution to their families and communities.

During the academic year, Rosedale offers tutoring and standardized test prep, together with service-based leadership training. Private music lessons are offered in voice, violin, and guitar thanks to the help of Concordia Conservatory of Bronxville, NY. In the summer Rosedale organizes all-day academic programs for girls entering grades 4-8 as well as a job training program for high school students that combines coursework with paid internships.

Rosedale is a small non-profit that depends heavily on volunteers to serve as tutors, mentors, activity leaders, or guest speakers. In addition to working directly with the students and parents, help is always needed with publicity and fund-raising activities. Volunteers are also needed to serve as a liaison between their workplace and Rosedale to set up summer internships for students enrolled in the Summer Job Training Program.

As part of our commitment to Rosedale, MHI offers complimentary participation to Rosedale staff and volunteers for both our Mentoring Program and our leadership seminars.

If you are interested in being a Rosedale volunteer, please contact Eleanor Moore, the Rosedale Director, at emoore@sbef.org   Rosedale Center is located in the Parkchester area of the Bronx and is a short walk from the No. 6 train. Prospective volunteers are welcome to visit to see the programs in action. Rosedale is part of the South Bronx Educational Foundation, a 401(c)3 non-profit organization www.sbef.org.
